Cody can’t make our Gypsy Cafe gig on Friday June 21. So Morris will be playing solo guitar that night. He will lay down a mix of Gypsy Jazz on the Acoustic guitar and some Straight Ahead Jazz on the electric guitar to keep things fresh. The new summer hours for music are 6-9PM. Check out our performance page for all the details.
Last Thursday evening the Plectrum Duo was invited to perform with the wonderful west county bass player, Nil Molin. It was at a cafe in Santa Rosa’s Railroad Square at the Arlene Frances Center. There were several people that seemed to be listening, really listening. We know they must be musicians. So we invited them to play with us and there is the result (the video). Please meet the wonderful OddJob Ensemble.
I like Jazz Guitar Music. I also like Fried Chicken and Ace Cider. Sometimes it’s hard to choose. At the Gypsy Cafe I don’t have to, nor do you. After few weeks away the Plectrum Duo is back at the Gypsy Cafe on Friday May 17th. Home sweet home
Check our performance page for all the details.
The Plectrum Duo is bringing the Jazz Guitar sound to the Gypsy Cafe (Sebastopol) again tonight, Friday March 29th, 2013. We will play from 5:30-8:30. The first set will be mellow, electric Jazz Guitar and then for the rest of the sets we will do our usual energetic 1930s Gypsy Jazz Django style. Cody’s got some crazy, new melodies and riffs that he will be throwing down, don’t miss it.
On Friday February 1st the Plectrum Duo along with regulars Tony on bass and Chip on drums have invited several other musicians to join us at Aubergine during the happy hour from 4:30 – 6:30. We will be joined by another guitarist and a violinist and a vocalist and even some surprises. It should be really fun, loose and it’s free (no cover charge and cheap drinks). What’s not to love?
Plectrum Duo and Friends (Chip on Drums and Tony on upright bass) will be warming things up at Aubergine in Sebastopol for the 4:30-6:30 happy hour on FRIDAY JAN 4th.
I’m happy just thinking about it.
That makes me even happier.

For as many big stages and cool clubs as Cody and I have performed on or in over the years, with separate bands. we have likely played in at least as many different restaurants. Trust me, they are not all the same. Most of the time the music is just a backdrop and people don’t seem to listen much. The Gypsy Cafe in Sebastopol is different. It makes sense that the folks drawn to the Gypsy’s great food and West Sonoma Co. location would also be wonderful music lovers. However, Cody and I are continually impressed by how much the patrons seem to engage with the music. It’s doesn’t hurt that they are great tippers too. That itself would be rewarding enough, but then top it all off with a delicious meal and the warm spirit of the owner (Shawn) and you might have the perfect restaurant gig. I think that I have to pinch myself. If you come by the Gypsy Cafe when we are playing and you feel like you want to pinch one of us, Cody needs a good pinching.
